Galectin-3 ELISA
Principle of the Test Procedure*
BGM Galectin-3™ is a conventional manual 96-well microtiter plate-based ELISA for the quantitative determination of galectin-3 levels in human serum and plasma.
BGM Galectin-3 utilizes two monoclonal antibodies against galectin-3. One anti-galectin-3 antibody is coated onto the surface of the wells in a microtiter plate and serves as the capture antibody to bind galectin-3 molecules in samples. The other anti-galectin-3 antibody is provided in solution and functions as the tracer antibody for detecting galectin-3 molecules bound to the capture antibody. The microtiter plate is ready to use. Certain information may differ between US and EU guidelines. Studies may have reported different cut-off points and practitioners should utilize 17.8 ng/mL noted in the Package Insert (below).

Intended Use
BGM Galectin-3 is an in vitro diagnostic device that quantitatively measures galectin-3 in serum or EDTA-plasma by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) on a microtiter plate platform, to be used in conjunction with clinical evaluation as an aid in assessing the prognosis of patients diagnosed with chronic heart failure (HF).
